Archery Archery

Archery is a combat skill for fighting enemies at range with crossbows and bolts. Higher Archery levels improve your accuracy and maximum damage and unlock stronger ranged equipment.

Getting Started

To use Archery:

  1. Put a crossbow in your hotbar and select it.
  2. Equip bolts in the ammo slot.
  3. Face an enemy within range and attack.

Each attack consumes one equipped bolt. If you run out of bolts, you cannot fire the crossbow.

Elara's Archery Shop sells starter crossbows, bolts, and Bush armor. Players who want to make their own equipment can buy supplies from Rowan and use the nearby Fletching bench.

Gaining Experience

You gain Archery XP by dealing damage with a crossbow. Damage beyond an enemy's remaining health does not grant extra XP.

Archery attacks can reach targets up to 3.5 tiles away, allowing you to begin fights from farther away than Melee.

Archery Armor

Lightweight Archery armor gives both Archery and Defense bonuses. Heavy metal and bone armor can reduce Archery, so check an item's stats before using it with a crossbow.

Training Tips

  1. Stock bolts first: Archery training stops as soon as your equipped ammo runs out.
  2. Use the best matched tier you can equip: Stronger crossbows and bolts both add Archery bonuses.
  3. Wear lightweight armor: Bush armor improves early Archery without the penalties found on heavy melee armor.
  4. Fight from range: Use the 3.5-tile reach to start attacking before an enemy closes the distance.
  5. Train Fletching alongside Archery: Making your own ammunition provides a steady supply for combat.

Combat Level

Your displayed Combat Level follows your highest offensive combat skill. Raising Archery above Melee therefore raises your Combat Level.
